Deputy Inspector General

Charles W. Marshall, a native Washingtonian, joined the Defense Media Activity (DMA) in June 2009 as the Deputy Inspector General. Before coming to DMA, Mr. Marshall served as a Program Manager with the U.S. Army Base Realignment Commission (BRAC) Directorate. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing construction and personnel relocation projects located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois; and Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Marshall served twenty-four-years in the US Army. He is an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Quartermaster Corps in 1983. Mr. Marshall held a variety of command and staff positions throughout his military career, serving two tours in Operation Joint Endeavor and one combat tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His final assignment in the Army was as the Professor of Military Science at Bowie State University. Mr. Marshall’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and numerous other awards and badges.

Mr. Marshall holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Virginia State University and a Masters of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University.
